Church of the Ascension is a parish within the Catholic Diocese of Columbus.

Our Parish Mission Statement
Church of the Ascension is a Catholic community in Johnstown, Ohio that keeps Christ at the center of our hearts, families, homes and parish, so we can live the truth and share it with others (John 14:6; 1 Peter 3:15). With the help of sacred scripture, tradition, and the sacraments, we strive to know, love and serve God in this world, while encouraging others to do the same, so we may live eternally in heaven with Christ, the angels, and the saints (Ephesians 2:4-8).
Church of the Ascension is a growing community of devoted Catholics located in Johnstown, Ohio. We welcome visitors to our community, but if you are ready to register with us, please let us know! We're excited for you and your family to join us!

Summer Parish Breakfast
Everyone is invited to join us for our summer parish breakfasts!
These gatherings will take place on the Sundays listed below, in the pavilion, between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Masses:

Church of Ascension Yard Sale!
Join us for the Labor Day Yard Sale! August 29 and 30th!
Clean out your garage and closet! The Social Committee will be accepting donations of gently used items starting August 24th - 27th.The Women of Ascension are hosting a Bake Sale!
We’re looking for donations of baked goods, packaged and ready to sell. Please note: no cupcakes or items with icing, thank you!
Volunteers will be needed to help staff the bake sale table.

Register Now for Parish Youth Catechesis!
Parish Youth Catechesis is our catechetical program for children, Kindergarten through 8th grade, including Sacramental Preparation for First Holy Communion, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation.
PYC classes begin Sept. 7, 2025
PYC meets throughout the school year following the 8:30 am Sunday Mass.- Click here to register your child for PYC (Grades K-1 and 3-7)

Confirmation meets throughout the school year following the 11 am Sunday Mass
Confirmation classes begin Sept. 7, 2025
PYC Tuition for 2025-2026 School Year
Non-Sacramental Year: $60.00 per child with a family cap of $180.00
- Sacramental Year, Confirmation: $85.00 per child
- Sacramental Year, First Communion: $75.00 per child
- No family cap for Sacramental Years
